About us page info:
Jim’s Pharmacy remains an independently owned & operated company after 33 years of service. We feel fortunate as a family and a business to serve the Olympic Peninsula residents and community with our pharmacy services, home health equipment and unique gift items.
The legacy of Jim’s Pharmacy started with Jim and Barb Cammack’s quest in becoming licensed Pharmacists back in 1960 and from 1970 – 1983, Jim was the head Pharmacist at the old Pay ‘N’ Save store, while Barb joined the pharmacy crew at Olympic Memorial Hospital.
In 1983, Jim and Barb Cammack opened Jim’s Pharmacy in the old Yamaha Shop at 221 S Peabody Street. Little did they know, in 1991 they would be starting construction of a new Jim’s from the ground up on the old Washington Grade School play field at it’s current location of 424 E 2nd Street where Jim’s continues to grow its clientele and business.
1991 approached quickly and construction began on the new building. They created key elements of business in the design and concentrated on home health care, an ample area for processing prescriptions, office and warehouse space, unique gift shop area, and two drive up windows. The result, an 8,200 square foot family run store and a Grand Opening party in 1992 with a staff of 15! Jim and Barb were looking forward to offering their customer’s better service and their employees a better place to work. “We had a lot of good advice along the way. Our goal is healthy families, our profession is giving expertise back. When retirement approaches, our son Joe, now a pharmacy and business major at the UW, may take over”, said Jim Cammack.
In 1996, son, Joe Cammack, joined the Pharmacy team as a licensed Pharmacist. He assisted his parents in managing Port Angeles’ locally owned pharmacy, and the largest on the North Olympic Peninsula. Free delivery within the city limits Monday through Saturday for their patrons, handy 2-lane drive-up windows, prescription compounding to meet specialized needs, a complete home health care department with durable medical equipment, oxygen and caring well trained Pharmacists you can talk with about prescriptions and over-the-counter medications
Along came 2002 and Jim and Barb made the decision to retire after a total of 42 years of assisting others in the pharmaceutical field. Their son, Joe, indeed did take on their legacy and now runs the only independently owned retail pharmacy left on the Olympic Peninsula. Adding Sequim deliveries Tuesdays and Thursdays, a Licensed Practical Nurse on staff, Diabetic Educator on Fridays by appointment, mastectomy and compression stocking fitters, ATP certified technician, a “Free Vitamins For Kids” program, a “Shop with Loyalty, Shop Locally” donation program and thirty-four employees later.
We are so thankful to be running strong with the help of our customers and entire community!
